Hiking with dad

While I was down in Arizona, Mike took the girls out hiking. They love getting out and taking the dogs with them. Here is a picture of Kaylee and Ashley with our two dogs Pepper, and Nacho.

Our dog Nacho

We have a dog named " Nacho", he is blind. Mike brought him home from Las Vegas last year when a lady who he had sold an insurance policy to,convinced him, that this dog would be a good friend to our kids. I wasn't too happy about it, and Mike said it would just be a trial bases, ( yeah right), knowing we'd all get attached to him in the two weeks trial period. I have to admit I like him too. He has a sweet personality and is really smart. He definately is a " special" dog. He thinks his job is following me around if I let him in the house, and when outside he loves to " herd" the kids around the yard. He also runs and leaps like a deer, it's really funny to see. Since he sheds I don't let him him the house much, and he really doesn't like being alone, so we now have a " friend" for him named Pepper. She is another Australian shepard, who Britt ( Mikes brother ) found for us. ( long story) well, dogs are fun, and the kids love taking them for walks, and hiking and teaching them tricks.

Tessa

Oh she is just so beautiful

Branson

This is one of the sweetest boys around. I love you Branson.

James

Let me tell you, what a fun energetic boy this is. I love you James.

Playing at the park

I had taken Riley down with me as well, and here is a picture of James, Branson and Riley playing in the sand. What a bunch of goofy boys.

Tessa Louise Turley

Our newest grand daughter Tessa was born Feb. 5th, what a sweet girl. I was able to go down to Arizona, and spend a few days, and play with all my grand kids. Amanda is doing good, I went to help out a little bit, and had a nice visit.

Welcome 2009

Time flys, and the holidays came and gone much too quickly I think. This year we had a quiet Christmas at home. We even had a little snow the week before and the kids loved that. They even had a snow day! How often does that happen here in Southern Utah? Already 2009 is looking busy and eventful. We attended Spencer's fire academy graduation, and we welcomed our first Grand daughter into the world. Paige LaRyn who was born Jan. 17th. ( I'm not sure on the spelling of the middle name yet) but the name is a cross between Amber and Devins living grandma's LaRee and Marilyn.
Mike and I feel so blessed. With so many people in financial distress, and loosing jobs, we are grateful we aren't among those who are out of work. We may not have wealth, but we have sufficient and for now that's more than alot of people who are struggling right now during this recession. We feel more then ever the desire to build up our years supply, and be better prepared financially. When you are prepared you shall not fear, right? We look forward with hope that 2009 will bring some great adventures, new goals, and renewed determination to learn new things and improve our situation. We hope we can share some fun times with you in 2009 so, till then- it's all good.

The holidays

I am finding that time seems to go by faster each year I get older. It's hard to believe it's December already. Thanksgiving was good. We stayed home this year, and Amber and Devin came up for a few days. It's always fun having them around. Spencer was here along with the Kaycee, Ashley, Kaylee, Riley, Mike and myself. We had a quiet, peaceful, and rainy Thanksgiving day. The Turkey turned out really moist, and Amber made some delicious homemade rolls. Of course I made a couple pumpkin pies, and we had all the rest of the traditional Thanksgiving feast of stuffing, cranberry sauce, potatoes and gravy, sweet potatoes, jello salad, etc.
I should have a picture somewhere, but it's not on MY camera. So, if I find one I will have to post it later.
The Saturday after Thanksgiving Mike went with Delwin Scoresby to scout out the area they will be hunting. Mike is pretty excited about being drawn for Elk this year. It's been years since he's had the opportunity to go hunting. When he returned that day he brought with him a Christmas Tree, one that he and Delwin cut down, with their Christmas tree permit. It was a nice surprise, so He got it all set up on a stand and Amber, Devin, Me, and the kids decorated it that night. Of course we got all our other decorations out as well. It's always fun, and puts me in the Christmas spirit seeing all the lights and pretty things displayed.
Mike is working in Las Vegas for a couple weeks. So, last weekend I drove down Friday night to stay with him at the Orleans where his company is putting the workers up. He has a nice room and we had a nice weekend together even if he had to go to bed early to be up by 2:30a.m. Saturday he got off early because of the Las Vegas Marathon, that was nice to have the time to spend with him. We went to Ambers and while Amanda, Amber and myself went shopping and to Ambers baby shower Mike stayed at her home and did his laundry.
Ambers baby shower was amazing. Let me tell you, her boss is one of the most generous, thoughtful people in this world. She loves Amber and wanted to give her a special baby shower. Her home was beautiful!! The food was fantastic, and the company enjoyable. Ambers friend Michelle did all the invitations herself, and they looked so professional even though they were handmade. She had this awesome idea of having the guests write on cards " mommy advice for Amber" and then went around taking pictures of everyone...by the end of the night Amber had this neat scrapbook with all the pictures and cards in place. " Finished!!" Wow, I guess those enrichment activities do pay off..hahaha. Anyhow, it was awesome! Amber received alot of nice baby things. She's so excited to have this little baby girl, and will be a wonderful mom, and Devin is going to be a great dad. They waited so long to now finally have this wonderful miracle blessing come to them.
A few weeks after Amber, Amanda will be having her sweet baby girl too!! How exciting is that? It's going to be so fun having two darling granddaughters to spoil, along with my 3 handsome grandsons. I sure wish we lived closer to them, so I could see them all the time. That would be a dream come true.
Well, I was in the kitchen the other day and heard a crashing sound coming from the front room. I walked in there to find my awesome Christmas tree had fallen over!! Yikes...and Mike isn't here to help me get it back up and together again..boy I sure miss him. Spencer came home and helped get it back off, but I had to take all the lights and deocrations off..I'm hoping it will be o.k. and tomorrow I will attempt to redecorate it. Michael Jr. thinks I need to get a different tree, thinking it might be a little too dry, and being the concerned firefighter- he would rather me have a one that won't be such a fire danger. Speaking of Sonny two nights ago he was on his way up to Provo to do a ride-along with Provo's fire dept. Paramedics for his Paramedic class. About 30 miles north of Beaver the weather got really bad. He was driving under the speed limit, ( believe it or not) when suddenly his car began SPINNING...it ended up off the road down the embankment..hitting who knows what along the way. When it stopped he realized it was in flames..and jumped out, grabbed his duffle bag which contained his cloths and lap-top threw it out of the car, grabbed his phone, and wallet, but other items remained in the burning car.
He was in the middle of nowhere, and had to walk up the hill towards the road, called dispatch who said it would be 30 minutes before someone could be there. He was FREEZING because he said..the weather became a " Freakin Blizzard"..finally after about 15 minutes he was able to flag down a car, and the people let him sit in the vehicle to warm up while waiting for the Highway patrol. The people were nice enough to drive him up to Provo, where his friend Blair rescued him, and let him stay at her parents house. Thanks Blair! So, Sonny is pretty upset that his nice car is pretty much roasted now. That was a nice Honda Civic too. Michael said" that was scary, I thought I was going to die"- kind of puts things in perspective doesn't it?
For HIM to make that comment- well yeah it was quit the ordeal for him. I told him, son this is yet another close call where something could of seriously happened to you, and yet you are protected and still here. I think God definately has a plan for him, always have, and know he's meant to do some great things. He could write a book called " my many close calls" probably make some good money..hahahaha.
Well, this is one long post. I will try to find some pictures to post later to go along with all this updated info. Till then...it's all good.

Cliff Jumping and older Brothers

Well, one day Michael and Spencer took their three youngest siblings cliff jumping over at Sand Hallow Resevoir. They had a blast!! I figured they were in good hands with a big brother who was a firefighter and one who is a former lifeguard. The kids are still talking about it. Thanks Michael and Spencer for making fun memories.
